The Difference

Why Homeowners Choose Home Fortress Roofing & Construction for Siding Installation in Middletown

  • Profiles to choose from

We install CertainTeed siding. The styles on our list cover horizontal clapboard and dutch lap profiles, a shake and shingle look, and vertical board and batten.

  • The water details come first

Siding is the part you see; the flashing, the trim around windows and doors, and the wrap behind the panels are what keep the framing dry. Ask any contractor how those details will be handled. We take photos of what we find so you can see it for yourself.

  • Roof, gutters and walls together

The same company installs the roof, the gutters and the gutter guards. That matters where they meet: the roof edge, the fascia and the wall under a gutter end.

How siding installation works on a Delaware house

Siding does two jobs. It gives the house its look, and it sheds most of the rain that hits the walls. Wind pushes water past the laps in every hard storm, so a wall depends on what sits behind the panels: a weather barrier wrap, flashing over each window and door, and a path for water to drain out at the bottom.

Siding wears slowly in Delaware weather. Humid summers keep shaded sides damp and green with algae. Coastal storms and nor'easters drive rain sideways.

More about siding installation

Freeze and thaw opens caulk joints and works trim loose. Wind crosses open farmland in much of Delaware, and our own Parkside job post of August 11, 2026 says Middletown gets its fair share of high winds. That is how panels on the weather side pull free from the course below.

We install CertainTeed siding. In plain terms, the choices fall into three families. Horizontal panels come in a flat clapboard profile or a dutch lap profile with a shadow groove along the top of each course.

Shake and shingle panels copy the look of cedar and are often used in gables. Vertical board and batten runs wide boards with narrow raised strips over the joints.

Good siding work is mostly about what you never see again once the panels are up. Old siding comes off so the sheathing can be checked for soft spots, especially under windows. Wrap and flashing are lapped like shingles, each layer over the one below, so water runs to the outside.

Panels are hung with room to move, because siding expands in summer heat and shrinks in the cold, and panels nailed tight can buckle.

Walls fail first where they meet the roof and the gutters. Where a roof edge stops against a wall, a small piece of kickout flashing should turn the water into the gutter. Without it, water runs behind the siding and rots the corner below.

We install roofs, gutters and gutter guards as well as siding, so the roof, the gutter and the wall at that joint are all trades we work in.

Our process is the one our roofing customers describe in their Google reviews. The estimate is free. We take photos of what we find.

We say what has to be done and what is only a recommendation, and at the end the crew cleans up the property and we walk around the house with you. We are family owned, and our owner grew up in the Middletown area.

Typical price ranges for vinyl siding replacement: $5,000–$15,000 for a townhouse, $10,000–$20,000 for an average single-family home and $15,000–$30,000+ for a larger single-family home. Pricing depends on siding thickness, profile, style, color, insulation options, removal of the existing siding, trim details and any necessary sheathing repairs. Architectural features, stonework, stucco transitions and other details can also affect pricing. Your own price comes after the free estimate visit; call (302) 314-1025 to set one up.

Our Siding Installation Process

The Home Fortress Roofing & Construction Siding Installation Journey in Middletown

Siding work runs in four stages, from a free estimate to a final walk-around.

  1. 01

    Free estimate visit

We come out and look at the walls, the trim and the places where roof and gutters meet the siding. We take photos of what we find.

  2. 02

    Recommendation and estimate

You get a plain account of what your walls need and a free estimate. Must-do items are kept separate from recommendations, and you choose the profile and color.

  3. 03

    The installation

The new siding goes on. On a sound install, wrap and flashing are lapped so water drains to the outside, and panels are hung with room to move. Rot found behind old siding should be repaired, because covering it with new panels only hides it.

  4. 04

    Cleanup and walk-around

The crew cleans up the property. Then we walk around the house with you so you can look over the finished walls and trim.

I enjoyed working with Randy. Great price. Great work. He was punctual and his crew completed the job in one day. His crew spent close to an hour making sure the property was cleaned up after the job was finished. Randy was on sight during the day to inspect and provide updates on progress. He walked around the job with me upon completion to make sure I was satisfied with the work and clean up. Would highly recommend.

I had Randy from Home Fortress come out to take a look at my roof to make sure we were still in good space after all the storms this year. I really appreciated that he was honest and didn’t try to sell me a whole new roof when I didn’t need one. He found a few loose shingles and some nail pops, took care of the quick repairs, and explained everything clearly. It was refreshing working with someone who was more focused on fixing the problem than making a bigger sale. If you’re looking for someone who’s knowledgeable, easy to work with, and trustworthy, I’d definitely recommend Home Fortress.

I had an exceptional experience with Randy and his team from start to finish. The team is professional and courteous, and the project was completed on time. Randy communicated clearly every step of the way and answered my questions immediately. My roofing work was done with safety at the forefront and the work area was kept clean. It's refreshing to work with a company that values customer service, high-quality workmanship, and clear communication. I highly recommend Randy and his team!

FAQs

Siding Installation in Middletown: Your Questions

What kind of siding do you install in Middletown, DE?

We install CertainTeed siding. The styles on our list are horizontal clapboard and dutch lap, a shake and shingle look, and vertical board and batten. Many homes mix two of them, for example shakes in the gables over clapboard walls.

Does a Middletown house with damaged siding always need all new siding?

No. A few cracked or loose panels on a sound wall are a different problem from rot in the sheathing. We look, take photos and tell you plainly which one you have.

Is a siding estimate free in New Castle County?

Yes, estimates are free. We come out, look at the walls and take photos of what we find. You get a plain account of what the walls need, with must-do items kept separate from recommendations.

How much does vinyl siding replacement cost in Middletown, DE?

Typical ranges are $5,000–$15,000 for a townhouse, $10,000–$20,000 for an average single-family home and $15,000–$30,000+ for a larger single-family home. The thickness, profile, style and color of the siding, insulation options, taking off the old siding, trim details and any sheathing repairs set the price, and architectural features, stonework and stucco transitions can change it too. The estimate is free; call (302) 314-1025.

Should I replace siding and gutters at the same time in Delaware?

Often it makes sense, because gutters hang on the fascia right where the wall meets the roof edge, and doing both together lets the fascia, trim and gutter line be set once instead of twice. We install gutters and gutter guards as well as siding. We do not clean gutters.

What happens if you find rot behind the siding on a Kent County home?

Rot behind siding usually means water has been getting past the flashing or trim above it for some time. Covering rot with new panels only hides it, so the soft wood should be cut out and the leak path fixed before the wall is closed up. We take photos of what we find and keep must-do items separate from recommendations; ask us at the estimate how hidden damage is handled.

Is Home Fortress registered as a contractor in Delaware?

Yes, we hold a Delaware Department of Labor contractor registration in the name of Home Fortress Construction LLC, trade name Home Fortress Roofing & Construction, valid until 06/03/2027. You can look it up in the state's contractor registry by number, Certificate No. DE-2026-000015163, or by name.
